This painting celebrates the traditional Yoruba drummers who are widely known for their beautifully synchronized performances at parties and gatherings. As the artist notes, it takes an incredible form of co-ordination for these drummers to breathe life into a party and “give a sweet melody to the listener”. The artist’s fond memories of these traditional drummers also stems from the fact that his father is a drummer, from whom the artist inherited the love of this quintessentially African musical instruments. ‘Teamwork’ is an ode to the artist's culture and a celebration of his roots.
