YALERRI

Pacy KADIO-MOROKRO was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and has lived in several West African countries including Benin and Nigeria as well as France. This globe trotting lifestyle has greatly influenced her design aesthetic and inspired the creation of her brand Yalerri.
Proud of her African identity, she decided to create a collection that celebrated her love of African textiles. The African wax fabric, a symbol of African culture, is a precious heritage that she wants to modernise through contemporary, elegant and refined cuts. Her mixed line subtly combines Western influences and elements of African culture for an active and modern woman. Translated “Yalerri” literally means “what you put on yourself” in Senufo (a language originating in West Africa). In this case those items are elegant, chic and laid-back.
Kadio-Morokro’s goals are to raise Yalerri to the same level as those of independent designers in major fashion capitals around world. The dream is to sustain her business and to participate in the creation of a solid textile industry in the Ivory Coast. Having won multiple design and operational awards as well as launched a co-working space in the field of textile production we would say she is well on track to make these dreams a vibrant reality.
