LA MAISON YHEBE

Each piece made by Ivorian designer Rebecca Zoro is a testament to her love of Africa and specifically her home country. From the construction to the traditional African fabrications, there is a joy to her designs that shines. The brand defines itself as a transmitter of culture through its art. It is a custodian of ancestral knowledge, making pieces that embody the spirit of Africa, the Ivory Coast and the designer’s Gouro culture. She also gives a nod to the electric 1920’s by featuring a lot of straight cuts and geometric lines but also flowing, feminine fabrics like organza and duchess satin. As with any forward thinking fashion brand, La Maison Yhebe also prides itself on striving to use an ecological and sustainable manufacturing process. Zoro promotes the reuse of existing materials to create new products that are perfect for casual occasions and can be worn in any season thanks to their breathable fabric composition. In addition to the eco-friendly focus, the designer is also keen to uplift her local community. Recently she partnered with Awa by Magnum, a female empowerment program for the 5,000 plus women in the Ivorian cocoa farming community. Rebecca Zoro is a bright light in the African fashion scene and the results of her efforts are beautiful.
